A full day tour to the islands
Go
aboard the Edina in the morning around 8 am and head off towards the islands.
Most people only know Coral Island (Koh Larn) but actually
Pattaya has some amazing islands within 2 hours cruising distance from Pattaya.
A case in point is Koh Si Chang. Spend the day exploring the island of Koh Si
Chang and if you feel like it, explore the surrounding
isles too. Return back to Pattaya around 5 p.m.
Koh-Sichang
Haad Saai Kaew is the most secluded of Koh-Sichang's
accessible beaches. Especially during the southwest monsoon, it can have calm,
crystal clear water, and no people. There's a variety of coral and some
large
fish waiting for the snorkeler with a good enough sense of direction.
One of the
local youngsters trained as a guide will find the somewhat overgrown stairway
down the cliff about 500 meters south of the Old Palace, immediately north of
the pier
Introduction to Koh Larn
Koh Larn is a wonderful little island in the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Larn is
located about 7km off the coast of Pattaya Beach, which
is about two hours
drive south of Bangkok. The island is about 4km long and about 2km wide and has
about a thousand residents most of whom live in the main village called Naban.
It takes about one hour sailing time to reach Koh Larn. Most of the people that live
there also work and go to school on the island. Any
of the everyday necessities are there including a police force and a small
medical facility. There are about six beache
s on the island that boast white
sand and clear blue water. Koh Larn is a lush green tropical island which has an
abundant amount of rain fall each year during monsoon. The terrain is mostly
mountainous which is covered for the most part with heavy vegetation, jungle if
you will. Monkeys naturally inhabit the island as well as other wildlife.
Infrastructure here in the most part consists of narrow roadways covered with
brick paving.
There are many activities here for visitors to enjoy, some include para sailing,
snorkeling, jet skiing and inflatable banana boats supplied by local Thai
operators, and of course swimming in
tropical waters, and
there is even a shooting range located here. Because the island is mountainous
there are also some spectacular views for those that like to take a few
snapshots. Koh Larn is also very suited for bicycling and hiking, some bicycling
events have been held there. Many movie production companies have used the
island for movie shoots. There are different types of accommodation that will
make you feel right at home there. Then there are the places to eat, many right
on the beach, serving up fresh catch of the day sea food. Some visitors come to stay for their entire
vacation on Koh Larn and return year after year, a kind of home away from home.
Sunset cruise
The Edina leaves the Bali Hai pier at approximately 6 p.m. in the evening and will chart a course towards Laem Chabang, the deep sea port. Watch the
sunset and when dusk sets in, take in the soft twinkling lights of the big
international cargo and passenger ships
in the deep sea harbor. Sail back towards the pier this time seeing
the lights of Pattaya's famous beach strip and the hotels. The price of the
evening cruise is 2.000
Thai Baht per hour for the use of the
boat. The duration of the cruise is up to you with a minimum time of 3 hours.
This cruise is very suitable for onboard party's, with a good music system and coloured lights.
